Off the beaten track and unknown to most visitors is the beach of Marathia, on the east side of the bay of Lagana. Due to the remoteness of the location and the difficulty finding it, the beach is populated with mainly locals. A sloping path leads to a relatively empty grit beach with view over the uninhabited island of Marathonisi.

With the open sea just around the corner, the water is of outstanding clean quality.
