Μonastery Agios Georgios ton Krimnon
This monastery stands, surrounded by huge pine trees, on the north west of Zakynthos. The first building dates back to the 16th century. The courtyard is a haven of tranquillity with adjusting living quarters for the monks and an intimate, but impressive, chapel.
The monastery with its extensive library used to welcome many important ecclesiastical figures such as Agios Gerassimos, the patron saint of the island of Kefalonia. The centre of the site is dominated by a defence tower to guards of assaults and pirates. It is built on a promontory with an extensive view over stretched out pine forests and the dark blue sea.
